    • Ocean of Love/105.7 The Hawk Billboard Radiothon.

Brick Lions Support Ocean of Love

Each year radio station 105.7 The Hawk sponsors the Ocean Of Love Billboard Radiothon.  This year, it was mid day personality, Andy Chase’s turn to sit atop the 105.7 Billboard until their goal of raising $105,700.00 was met.  Ocean Of Love is an organization located in Ocean County which helps Ocean County families who’s children have cancer.  Ocean Of Love is there to help these families in any way necessary.  Whether it is emotional or financial support, or advice on what to do, Ocean Of Love is there.  This year the Brick Lions extended their support of this event by coming out and setting up their funnel cake booth near the Billboard.  All sales were donated to Ocean Of Love and anyone buying a funnel cake was entered in a drawing for a Giants football poster.  Lions Club members manned the booth for four nights and each night was special.  There were visits from a local fire company, some Point Pleasant pirates, and a motorcycle club.  Billboard volunteers sampled some of the Lions Club fried specialties like fried snickers, brownies, Ring Dings, apples and bananas.  On Friday, King Lion Donna spoke on air to Race Thomas and thanked him for including us in the program and announced that the club’s total donation for the week was $1,057.00.  All in all, Andy’s week on the Billboard was a great success as the total amount raised was $106,600.00.

    •  Eakfest 2009!

Alicia and Chris Eak's annual Halloween celebration was held at the Pioneer Hose Fire Company with more than 1000 people at the event.  Young and old alike were entertained by live music, games and the very popular Haunted Trail.  The Brick Lions Club was there selling Funnel Cakes and drinks.  All of the net proceeds from the event are donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  The event is supported by a cast of volunteers who range from cupcake bakers to zombies.
