Lion’s club members make a difference in their communities. In 1943 the Hopkins Lions raised $8,000 to purchase and construct Shady Oak Beach. In 1971, 61 Lions Club members funded and built the picnic shelter at Shady Oak. The local clubs have purchased upgraded lighting for the Activity Center, purchased equipment for the police and fire departments, and have contributed to numerous individuals in need of things from medical equipment to leader dogs.
·Lion’s club members are a part of a worldwide organization carrying out community and humanitarian projects. This year’s project is “sight II” a campaign to raise $200 million internationally to eliminate the major causes of blindness worldwide.
·Lion’s club members grow personally and professionally by participating in our programs, community service projects and events.
