Lions Float in Ridgefield's 300th  Anniversary Parade

The Ridgefield Lions Club is a non-profit organization that supports the local community. Our Mission Statement is to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation. In 1925, Helen Keller challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind". Today Lions are recognized throughout the world for their service to the blind and visually impaired.  We demonstrate our commitment to sight through eyeglass recycling, sight partnerships and numerous other sight service projects. The Lions motto is "We Serve"

Our club was formed April 19, 1929.  We celebrated our 80th Anniversary this year.

If anyone is interested in joining our Club, please contact our membership chairperson, Lion Jill Johnston at 203-431-1513 or E-mail her at jcjohnston@optimum.net. We are always looking for people to join us in our endeavor to help those less fortunate.  Our club consists of both male and female members from all walks of life.  We would love for you to join us at one of our meetings to see what we're all about.  Please call Lion Jill.

In August we lost a long time member, Lion Ed Martin.  It has been very sad to say good bye to a good friend and very active Lion of 28 years.  Lion Ed was a Past President and a Melvin Jones Fellow.  Please remember him in your prayers.

It is with heavy heart that I must report the very sudden, unexpected death of another long time Lion, Lion Jerry Ambrose.  We are all very sad and shocked at his recent passing. He was our present treasurer, an office he held for many years. Lion Jerry, a Lion for 24 years,  was Past President, Melvin Jones Fellow and Knight of the Blind recipient. Please keep his family in your prayers.
