Coleman Lions Club "We Serve"
The Coleman Lions Club is pleased to announce the winners of our new Cash
Raffle which took place on Saturday, September 19 at the Coleman VFW Hall
during our Charter Night Banquet. Erick Hafer of Wayland, Michigan was the
first place winner of $500. Erick grew up in Coleman and bought his ticket
during Rod Benders car show in June. $400 went to Dale Dzurka of Auburn who
purchased his winning ticket at the Midland County Fair in August. The third
place winner was Marsha Cassidy of Coleman who was surprised to learn she
had won $300 on a ticket her husband purchased in her name the day of the
drawing. $200 was won by Mel Cozat of Coleman who purchased his ticket at
Lion member Marilyn Schaar?s beauty shop, A Time for You. The $100 prize
went to Lynn Schell from Onaway, Michigan who purchased it from a Coleman
Lion friend.
Coleman Lions want to thank everyone who purchased raffle tickets or
attended our Charter Night party. The silent and live auctions as well as
the games during the evening helped raise the funds needed to continue our
many projects and charity donations. We look forward to again helping local
citizens with vision and glasses as well as hearing exams and hearing aids.
We will also again be able to give scholarships to service minded high
school seniors. We sponsor the largest Jr./ Senior High School Leo Club in
the State and will continue to team with them on Adopt-A-Highway Road
clean-ups and our annual Halloween Party in City Park. In addition to
donations to the Coleman library, schools and Senior Center, we help other
area organizations such as Literacy Council, Visiting Nurses and Youth
Leadership.
Note: Coleman VFW holds a fish fry the first Friday of every month. They are often in need of additional help getting drinks and clearing tables. Please consider giving some of your time to help a fellow service organization. Volunteers should arrive around 5pm and are only needed for a couple short hours. See Merlin Dana at the VFW.
