Meetings

The Denbigh-Griffith Lions Club was formed in the Fall of 1997 and meetings were held at the Pine Valley Restaurant in Griffith.

After having three  or four informal meetings with informative videos on the work of the Lions in the world, Past District Governor Roger Lacroix came from Kincardin to help us with our goals. Lion Roger is the Extension Staff Representative for the Lions Clubs International in Oakbrook, Ill.(Head Office)

Denbigh-Griffith Lions Club was officailly chartered on Saturday, February 21, 1998 at the Griffith Recreational Centre with 25 members. The Guest Speaker was International Director, Gilles Melancon, who came from Repentigny, Quebec. There were 135 in attendance from across our District A-3. Also in attendance was LIon Tom Renk who is Extension Membership Divisional manager from Oakbrook, Ill. We were honored to have Lion Tom with us.

Our very first activity within our community in December 1997as a Lions Club was travelling to twenty or more homes of Shut-ins or Senior Citizens to sing Christmas Carols and  give out candles made by one of our members. This was a very moving experience and will certainly be continued each year.

Since then our Lions Club has continued to work to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves both here at home and in communities around the world.
