CADET FUN RUN 4 HEROES

The CADETS FUN RUN 4 HEROES went ahead on Sunday 1st November 2009 even if the weather started a bit dark, wet and windy.  70 cadets from the SCC, ACF, ATC and RMVCC took part and made this a memorable event.  We are delighted to confirm that the sum raised was a magnificent £2,600 - after adding the odd couple of pounds to round it up!  A special thank you to all the local cadets who made this possible.  Since Christmas there have been a few 'stragglers' making payments, so the final figure is now £2,683!  If you would like to see the work done by HELP FOR HEROES then visit their website at www.helpforheroes.org.uk.  The president is talking about doing it again this year..

PRESIDENT'S PROJECT

Each year the club president chooses a project which some of our fund raising is used to support.  In the past this has included the local Exmouth RNLI, St John Ambulance and BBC Radio Devon's Chestnut Appeal.  Recently our president - Lion Cynthia Hopkins - decided to share the sum amongst four worthy causes.

ZONE PROJECT

Similar to the President's Project, but on a larger scale.  The six Lions clubs that make up Zone I (I as in India, not one) - Axminster, Budleigh Salterton, Exmouth, Honiton, Seaton and Sidmouth Lions clubs - under the leadership of the Zone Chairman, decide upon one BIG local good cause which all clubs in the zone contribute towards.  In the past this has included ELF, The Devon Air Ambulance, CLIC and West of England School for children with little or no sight.  It has been known for this contribution to be as much as £9,000.  

Each club nominates their choice, then the chosen organisation is selected by a democratic vote of all six clubs.  The 2009/10 chosen charity is BRAINWAVE .
