Our regular meetings resumed on Tuesday, September 1, 2009. Happy to see everyone back and ready to work. We are pleased to announce we have a new International President; Eberhard J. Wirfs. His mission statement for this year is "Move to Grow". He explains this as follows: " We need to grow in social understanding, grow a new generation of leaders and grow increased public awareness of Lions." Former President Jimmy Carter, who is a Lion, has nominated Lions for the Nobel Peace Prize. Lions also recently received a grant from the Global Health and Education Foundation for our SightFirst II campaign and Financial Times named Lions the #1 global NGO (nongovernmental organization).
The Sayreville Lions Club has received a Certificate of Achievement for our support of youth in the community. Programs include the High School awards and scholarship, the Peace Poster Contest and support of the Girl Scouts who assist at our pancake breakfasts.
We have been successful in installing another roadside billboard sign in the Borough to let people know we are active in the community. The new sign has been sponsored by several businesses in town. We now have a presence at all the main entries to Sayreville. We are planning to include our website address on our roadside signs so residents and visitors to Sayreville can know there is a Lions Club in the community, what we are doing, and how to contact us. http://www.sayrevillenj.lionwap.org
Those interested in joining our club can indicate their interest on-line at
