LIONS TALES
WEBSITE Our club now has a web site so if you have any info you would like to put on it just e-mail it to me. About Sept. we will be able to have up to 10 pictures and 5 pages of info. You can either put in http://shelllakelionswi.lionwap.org/ or just Google shell lake lions.
AUGUST MEETING Treasure Rudy told that we had $3,690 in our administrative account and $18,166 in our activities account or which $15,188 was available for projects. He further reported that we made $2008 on the scooter raffle and $1,237 on the July 3rd. feed. Lion Downs told that the shelter was about done and that we had came in under budget. Other action included agreeing to purchase a banner for the Cub Scouts at a cost of $193. Lion Zeug's name was drawn for the attendance drawing.
AUGUST BOARD Only four Board members showed up so no official action was taken.
EYE TRANSPORT I received a call on August 24th that there were eyes to be transported from the Spooner hospital. I immediately referred to the list of transporters and observed that most of the people on the list are still employed and I happened to know that a couple of the retired transporters on the list were engaged in other things that day. So I made the trip myself. I was happy to do that but it does tell me that we should get a couple more people on the list that are available during the day. Lion Krueger has volunteered to be one. If you would be willing/interested please talk to me. Shell Lake Lions transport for two months and then Spooner for two months so there aren't a lot of calls but when the call comes it is important that we are prepared.
CALENDAR NEWS Calendars are ready and you should be receiving these by early next week. If you are not contacted for calendars please contact your team leader. If you do not know who that is please contact Lion Jim Lewis. Remember – this is our BIGGEST fund raiser and it doesn’t take a lot of time or work to sell a few calendars. Let’s all work hard to have all the calendars sold by our December meeting. Please note this year we had to change our mailer program. We can no longer solicit sales, however we are sending a letter out to these people to contact a Lion member if they are interested in purchasing a calendar. So if you know of anyone that typically ordered the calendar through the mailer, please contact them to see if they will support this great fundraiser. Thanks for all your support!
