Truro Lions Club was formed in 1970 and received its Charter on March 17th 1971.
Our Mother Club was St. Austell Lions Club and in March 1975 we were proud to help form our Daughter Club - Falmouth & Penryn Lions club.
Truro Lions Club twinned with The Cousin Jack's Lions Club of Grass Valley, California. USA in July 1976 and then twinned with the Lions Club of Midrand, Republic of South Africa in May 1998 - both centres in different Continents of the mining industry to which many Cornish miners went in view of their great experience in the art of hard rock mining.
In March 1984, a very successful twinning took place between the Lions Club of Truro and the Lions Club of Guingamp, Brittany. On many occasions the members of Truro were fortunate to visit Guingamp and to welcome back their members to Truro but due to a lack of members and the difficulty in recruiting new ones in the Guingamp Club, they unfortunately disbanded in 2006 but contact is still maintained with those former members, some of which are now members of the Lannion (Brittany) Lions Club who are twinned with the Weston-Super-Mare Lions Club.
Lions are an international network of 1.3 million men and women in 205 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world.
