Lugarno Lions Sports Stars Breakfast - March - Hurstville Oval

Lugarno Lions together with Local Member Kevin Greene and St George community leader, Phil Bates, ran a St George Sports Stars Breakfast at Hurstville Oval on Friday 22nd Feb '08 to raise $13,000 for the Australian Lions Children's Mobility Foundation.

What a great success! Many great St George Sports stars were in attendance including Johnny Raper and Graeme Langlands (rugby league), Brian Booth and Murray Bennett(cricket), Albie Thomas (athletics), Garry Sutton and Kevin Nicholls (cycling) and Wayne Riley (golf). The audience was also entertained by comedian, Paul Martel. A sumptuous breakfast was provided and we thank Leo and Merren Rutishauser from Stapleton's restaurant for their huge effort on the day. We also thank Sydney Markets Lions, who donated the food for the breakfast.

Together with  Hills Rural Lions and Sydney Markets Lions we aim to raise sufficient funds to buy two more "Hart Walkers" for children with cerebral palsy. These two "Hart Walkers" are in addition to one being fitted this month by Lugarno Lions for a child from Revesby and three other "Hart Walkers" paid off by Lugarno Lions this year.

Lugarno Lions and Mortdale Community Services Annual Trivia Night

Nokia started off as a forestry company? True or False?  Which country won the 2007 Netball World Cup?

The annual Trivia Night to raise funds for Mortdale Community Services (formerly Georges River Community Services) was held at Penshurst RSL on Friday 29th February 2008.  The night was a major success with guests in attendance and a good time was had by all.

Not only did everyone have a good time but we raised over $7,000 on the night!

Clean Up Australia Day

Lugarno Lions were approached by Hurstville Council to man a BBQ for the patrons of the annual Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 2nd March. The BBQ was setup at Evatt Park and catered to about 50 volunteers performing the cleanup. The BBQ was very much appreciated by the Council and the volunteers.
